Great Aunt Diane Arrives on a Beautiful Swimming Day!

My sister, Diane, four years younger than me, arrived today for a summer visit.  Scotty was happy to see her.

And for an update on the greenhouse project, with master gardener Caleb – it is going great!  Look at those potato plants!

We were going to have a little hot box for growing some edibles.  You know, like lettuce and radishes.  Maybe a little box to give broccoli a good start before putting it in the ground.  Someplace to acclimate plants started indoors….

Aiyiya.  My husband has a way about him, doesn’t he?  We have now planted 24 potato plants, a row of lettuce and are trying to decide on what else.

What’s popping up out there?

I have been spending as much time as I can hiking lately.  I can honestly say I do become quickly addicted to being out there in the hills, especially at this time of the year when  everything is beginning to pop out of the ground.  It is always amazing to me to all of the sudden notice that there is more of a green tinge to the hills than  a brown one.  Well, we are not quite there yet, but we are fast approaching that moment.

So what is pushing its way out of the ground this week besides morels?

And although I realize that many people are disappointed with the rain, we really do need it right now.   The hills are turning green right before our eyes!  Go for a hike.
